Two Irish tech clusters merge to boost south-west innovation

The new Tech Sector Alliance was announced at the 2022 Leaders Awards, which noticed prizes given to Poppulo, VMware, Keelvar and far more.

Two of the south-west’s know-how clusters have combined into a one entity to improved depict the pursuits of the region’s growing tech sector.

[email protected] and KerrySciTech have merged to sort the Tech Business Alliance, with a put together membership of almost 300 enterprises. This will make the new entity a person of the major member-led tech clusters in Ireland.

The organisations signed a detailed memorandum of knowledge previously this calendar year to formalise their collaboration.

2022 Leaders Awards winners

The announcement was built tonight (4 November) at the 2022 Leaders Awards, which were hosted by the two tech clusters at Cork’s Rochestown Park Resort.

These awards intention to recognise innovation, advancement and influence in the south-west region’s tech sector.

Andrew O’Shaughnessy, founder of Poppulo, was named Tech Particular person of the Yr. He was recognised for his work scaling the Cork-based mostly communications computer software firm, which merged with US outfit 4 Winds Interactive past year in a offer that valued that blended corporation at a claimed $1bn.

St Vincent’s Secondary Faculty won the Excellence in Education and learning award for its operate in producing student and instructor IT abilities. The college acquired €5,000 to endorse STEM functions within just their faculty, sponsored by Trend Micro.

The Diversity, Inclusion and Social Affect award went to VMware in recognition of the company’s numerous training, coaching and recognition initiatives.

Other award winners involved expanding regtech start off-up Valid8Me, which gained the Tech Start-Up of the 12 months award, when Dairymaster was recognised as the Multinational of the Year.

KerrySciTech chair Manjit Gill stated the celebration was a “ringing endorsement of the diversity, enthusiasm and resilience” of people working in the tech sector.
